New Boop for My X100

Got a nice accessory addition to my new camera Fujifilm X100 - a soft release. Its probably fair to say i'm not a flashy guy so the soft release that i purchased is what most people would term a safe buy. Its something more conservative, a satin red Boop.

"See that little red fella sitting right on top of the shutter release button, that is the Boop"

There are several designs to choose from. Some are unique, some interesting while others are cute like the ladybird series we see below. If you want to read more and see more about soft releases, you can visit this URL Beep - Boop - Bip - Bug

"Some of Bips in cute mini bug design"

If you are interested in getting one, you can visit ChiifCameras. The shop is located at Excelsior Shopping Centre, right across Peninsula Plaza. Owner of the shop, Chii Fei is a nice chatty person who doesn't mind sharing some tips over small talk during the ten minutes i was there.

Don't Be A Tourist

Here's the series of "Don't Be A Tourist" advert clips by Kevin Spacey on Olympus Pen that really stole me. Esp the clip with the line that goes, "I don't want to take 300,000 same old pictures that break my hard drive. I want to take 3 that break my heart."

Other clips with lines like, "I don't want to be the camera guy....., 15 lenses, 3 tripods... I want to be, I don't know, camera ciao, picture wow." and "... photographs that hurt everytime you look at it..." were also done up very nicely.

And I must say, they are most excellently done as a series. Just kept going wow over them... it's just so captivating.... They didn't break my heart but they sure did touch my heart. =)

My first Holga

Just bought my first Holga camera 2 days back, hopefully i will be able to try it out this weekend. Oh.. in case, you have no idea what a Holga is - you can click here to find out more.

A brief intro -

It's a little toy plastic camera with plastic lens, very poorly built and you have almost no control on how the picture will turn out to be when you sent it for developing. Sometimes you might get nothing out of the whole roll of film or every shot is a masterpiece.

Simply said, its a camera where one simply have fun at taking pics without having to give a further thot about the usual guides and rules that binds conventional photography and learn to expect the unexpected, that is to say, don't expect at all!

My First Prime Lens =)

Just gotten my first set of prime lens, Sony 50mm/f1.4 yesterday from MS Colors at Ang Mo Kio for my camera. Tried a couple of shots with it and that f1.4 lens is really fast at its widest aperture, producing very good bokeh.

Can't wait to get out to the streets the next weekend to try out the new lens. No doubt it's a fixed lens and i will probably miss the freedom of zoom that comes with my 18-200mm/f3.5-6.3 lens but it will be a new experience for me. Learning to move around with the cam than to shift the zoom for the shots i like.

Every set of cameras and lens has its pros and cons, its really about how well we know and make use of our equipment's strengths and downplaying its limits that matters.

Haha, not that i'm a very good photographer but its always been a joy for me to stroll the streets for shots. Yup, even way back then more than 3 years ago when i only had a pocket sized compact 3.2meg camera to stroll with.

Heehee, so anyone interested in joining me for a little photogaphic stroll?
