Blessings

Although the previous 2 weeks did not start out too well but nothing in essence is permanent. There is not one thing in this world that is not in a constant flux. And for this very reason when things are bleak, keeping this truth in mind can empower us with the ability to look beyond our current pain and suffering, to the future horizon with hope that things may change for better.

However, we have to be realistic here - though we can hope and work with our utmost efforts toward a better future, it does not necessarily guarantee one. Yet by doing nothing, resigning to the "fate" and living our lives in despair, is the most unkind thing we can ever do to ourselves, for that would simply implied we failed before we even tried. To surmise, there is no guaranteed success but failure is imminent if we do not even attempt at the betterment of our lives.

And so 2 week has gone by and being fairly fruitful in both material and spiritual sense. Materially fruitful as i went for the first job interview for a project manager role in a finance department (that may ultimately transform into a proper management reporting role in 2 years time) and sent out my resume to another headhunter from another HR agency who requested a latest copy of it.

On the other hand, i received spiritual blessings from Sister who dedicated some of her merits to me in good wishes that i will successfully land in a better job that will allow me to enjoy more time to improve my own spiritual life and health. She reminded me again that earning a lesser pay should not be a concern as long as one can make sure our health, both physical and mental are well taken care of and with time for spiritual developments.

No arguments with that especially not from me when i have used up all my sick leave last year and even had to cover some of the days that i'm sick with my share of annual leave.

In Motion

Come late Feb this year, there will be a significant change to my daily routines. The role of my current job will end officially on 25th Feb and considered fully transited to our colleagues in India.

Depending on how conditions changes each day as it draws nearer to the date, i will either transfer within the firm to place myself with a new role in another department or leave the company for other external opportunties that may yet present themselves. At the moment, as the saying goes, nothing is cast in stone especially so when the future is ever the unknown, the great adventure as i usually like to term it :)

Even though we are not sure how things will end up, there is no need to be passive about the turn of events. In actual fact, we should be doing the exact opposite, to plan and act to our best efforts so that things may turn out for the best and our lives will be the better of it. And when it does not, we know that we did our best and we can hold ourselves in confidence with no regrets and laments.

And what have i done so far? i have been actively on the lookout for internal openings but suffice to say, the pickings are thin at this point in time and the roles available are not what i have in mind. Of course that prompted the next logical course of action, to look outside the firm for suitable opportunities.

Although i only recently put up my resume on efinancials website last week, Cindy from a HR firm called up to arrange a quick meeting. The 1.5hr meeting has been pretty fruitful for the both of us, her knowing more about my work profile and also allowing me to outline what sort of roles i would be interested in. A bonus for both of us, she mentioned that she need a candidate with investment accounting experience and i managed to link her up with Doreen, my former colleague from AXA Re. Hopefully we can all work out something. :)
