In Remembrance of My Godmother, Xiang

In less than 3 months, our family had to deal with loss of another member, my aunt. She was more than aunt to me, she was also my godmother.

But the one most affected was my uncle, having to deal with the loss of a brother (my 3rd uncle Hai) and now the loss of his wife, whom he shared his life with over the last 40 years. I pray that in his griefing, his health will not suffer as it had been a most heart wrenching sight to see him suffer so much.

My godmother was a lady that was well loved by us. She had always been there for us with a ready smile and if she ever had a temper, i can only say that she had one of the best temper in the world. She always looked out for her family and relatives, putting our interests before her own ~ the reason why many were greatly shocked and sadden by the sudden demise of this great lady.

I can still vividly remember the time she brought me to the clinic in a thunderstorm when i was a child as my mother was too busy attending to my vey young sister and baby brother. Such love for me and care for my family was shown in many more little instances throughout my life and i am extremely grateful for it.

I feel that the best way to remember her and to let her be alive in us is to live her way, her way of caring for others, to view other interests as important as our own.

With love to godma and may she be well and happy in her next life and may she attain nibbana soon.

For you godma ~
May all blessings be with you,
May all that is protect you,
By the protective powers of all the buddhas,
May safety ever be yours.
